Inner Map Terms of Service

Effective Date: May 19, 2026
Last Updated: May 19, 2026

The short version

Before the legal version, here's what these Terms come down to. Everything below is the detail behind these points.

  1. Inner Map is a reflection tool, not therapy or medical care. The AI is not a clinician. It cannot diagnose, treat, or handle a crisis. If you are in crisis, please reach a human — 988 (US), Samaritans 116 123 (UK), or findahelpline.com.
  2. You need to be 18 or older to use Inner Map. By using the app you confirm that you are.
  3. What you write is yours. You keep ownership of your conversations, your map, and your journal. You grant us only the narrow permission we need to operate the app for you.
  4. Subscriptions, if any, are billed through Apple or Google. Cancellation and refunds follow their rules, which we don't control.
  5. Disputes are resolved by individual arbitration under Florida law. By agreeing to these Terms you and Innermap LLC both waive jury trials and class actions. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days — see the Dispute Resolution section.

The rest of these Terms fills in the detail.

Who we are and what these Terms cover

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Innermap LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Inner Map," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your use of the Inner Map mobile application, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and any related services we provide through it (together, the "Service").

Your privacy is covered by a separate document, the Inner Map Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read both.

If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at legal@my-inner-map.com.

Accepting these Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Inner Map, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you are using Inner Map on behalf of another person or an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind them to these Terms. In practice Inner Map is built for individual personal use, and we expect each account to belong to one individual.

Eligibility and age requirement

You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account or use the Service. During signup you confirm that you are 18 or older. Inner Map is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under 18.

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete the associated data. If you believe a minor is using Inner Map, contact privacy@my-inner-map.com.

You must also be legally permitted to use the Service in the jurisdiction where you live. You are responsible for compliance with any local laws that apply to you.

What Inner Map is — and is not

Inner Map is a self-reflection and self-understanding tool. It uses AI to help you explore your inner experience — your patterns, your reactions, the parts of you that show up in different situations — and to build a personal "map" of that experience over time.

Inner Map is not therapy, counseling, medical care, or mental health treatment. It is not a substitute for a licensed professional.

Specifically:

You should make decisions about your health and wellbeing in consultation with qualified professionals — not based on the Service. If you are currently under professional care, Inner Map is not a replacement for it, and you should not stop or change treatment because of anything in the app.

Crisis situations — please read

Inner Map cannot help you in an emergency. The AI is not a crisis-intervention service and cannot contact emergency responders on your behalf.

If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or otherwise need urgent help, reach a human now:

The Service is configured to recognize some crisis indicators and surface these resources during conversations, but it may not detect every situation, and you should never rely on it to do so. If you are in danger, contact emergency services directly.

Your account

When you first install Inner Map, the app generates a unique account identifier for you. You may optionally add an email address and a display name, as described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to your device secure. Inner Map ties your data to your device and account identifier; if you lose access to your device, you may lose access to data stored only on it (such as encrypted journal entries), and we cannot recover it for you.

You agree to provide accurate information where you choose to provide any, and to keep it reasonably current.

Acceptable use

Inner Map is built for genuine personal reflection. When you use the Service, you agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, as described under "Suspension and termination" below.

AI-generated content

The conversational replies, reflections, observations, and "map" content the Service produces are generated by AI. By their nature:

You are responsible for how you interpret and act on anything the Service produces. Inner Map does not warrant that AI output is accurate, suitable, or fit for any particular purpose.

Third-party AI providers

Inner Map relies on third-party AI providers to deliver core functionality — currently Anthropic (for text chat) and OpenAI (for voice and transcription). Your conversations are processed by these providers to generate replies, as described in detail in the Privacy Policy under "How we use AI."

These providers operate under their own terms and policies, which we do not control. Our contractual arrangements with them require that customer data is not used to train their models and is not retained beyond standard operational windows. The availability and behavior of these providers can affect the Service, and an outage or change on their side may interrupt or alter functionality.

The relationship feature

Inner Map includes an optional feature that lets two users connect as partners and share selected content in a shared space. If you use it:

If you ever feel unsafe with a partner, stop using the feature and seek appropriate support. Crisis and safety resources are listed above and in the app.

Subscriptions, purchases, and payments

Some features of Inner Map may be offered free of charge, and some may require a paid subscription or one-time purchase. Where the Service offers paid features:

If a planned premium tier (for example, expanded voice access) is referenced in the app before it is available, that reference is informational and not an offer or commitment.

Intellectual property

The Service itself — the Inner Map app, its design, its underlying framework and content, its name, and its logos — is owned by Innermap LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own personal reflection, subject to these Terms.

This license does not transfer any ownership to you, and it does not permit any of the activities listed under "Acceptable use" that are restricted.

Your content and your data

As between you and Inner Map, you own the content you create — your conversation input, your map, and your journal entries. We do not claim ownership of it.

You grant Innermap LLC a limited license to host, store, process, transmit, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service to you — for example, sending your messages to an AI provider to generate a reply, storing your map so you can return to it, and (in the relationship feature) showing a partner content you have chosen to share. This license exists only to run the app for you and ends when your content is deleted, subject to the retention windows described in the Privacy Policy.

How we collect, use, store, and delete your data — and your rights to export and deletion — is described in full in the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Innermap LLC disclaims all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; that AI-generated output will be accurate or reliable; that defects will be corrected; or that the Service will meet your expectations. You use the Service at your own discretion and risk.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you. In that case, such warranties are limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Innermap LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of goodwill, or loss arising from your reliance on AI-generated content, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of Innermap LLC arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid to us, through the app stores or otherwise, in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (US $100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

You understand and agree that Inner Map is a reflection tool, not a healthcare or crisis service, and that you are responsible for seeking appropriate professional or emergency help when you need it.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Innermap LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

Dispute resolution — arbitration and class-action waiver

Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes between you and Innermap LLC are resolved and limits the ways you can seek relief.

Informal resolution first. Most concerns can be resolved quickly. Before starting a formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at legal@my-inner-map.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally.

Binding arbitration. If a dispute is not resolved informally, you and Innermap LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except as stated below. The arbitration will be administered by a recognized arbitration provider under its applicable consumer rules, and will take place in the State of Florida or, at your election, by remote/telephonic means or in the county where you live.

Class-action and jury-trial waiver. You and Innermap LLC agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, consolidated, or representative proceeding. You and Innermap LLC waive any right to a jury trial.

Exceptions. Either party may (a) bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies, and (b) seek injunctive or equitable relief in court for actual or threatened infringement or misuse of intellectual property.

30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing legal@my-inner-map.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with your account identifier and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the courts identified under "Governing law" below. Opting out of arbitration does not affect any other part of these Terms.

If any portion of this section is found unenforceable, the remainder will still apply, except that if the class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim will proceed in court rather than in arbitration.

Governing law

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service, are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Subject to the arbitration agreement above, and for any matter not subject to arbitration (including where you have validly opted out), you and Innermap LLC agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the State of Florida, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using Inner Map at any time, and you may delete your account from within the app (Settings → Privacy → Delete My Account), which deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if continuing to provide the Service to you would create a security, legal, or safety risk. Where reasonable and lawful, we will give you notice and an opportunity to address the issue.

We may also discontinue the Service, in whole or in part. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will make a reasonable effort to give advance notice so you can export your data.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution, and governing law — survive.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. For material changes, we will provide notice in-app before the change takes effect.

Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the Service and, if you wish, delete your account.
